The JV1 Eagles had a big night from the QB position as Lathan Van Ausdall and Evan Bullock accounted for 4 touchdowns. Jake Morgan connected on all 4 extra points as well as a 39 yard field goal. The game was full of big runs for the JV1 Eagles by Deondre Brown, Tristan Martinez, and Korey Mosley. Nick Tignor was the leading receiver. After leading 7 to 6 for most of the first half, the last minute and a half proved to be very exciting for the Eagles. After a big end around run by Brown, Bullock punched it in from 3 yards out. Morgan's extra point was good to make it 14 to 6 with 1:30 left in the half. Desoto tried to field the ensuing kickoff in the end zone but had trouble securing the ball. The kickoff coverage was fantastic and resulted in the Desoto ball carrier being tackled in the end zone for a safety. A nice return by Ethan Gallo set the Eagles up in prime position inside Desoto territory. Van Ausdall took it in on the first play from 32 yards out and after the Morgan PAT, JV1 Eagles had jumped out to a 23 to 6 lead. A Michael Ratcliff interception ended the half. Desoto got on the board in the 3rd quarter after striping the ball as the Eagles were trying to score and returning it 97 yards for a TD. Despite 3 chances, they were not able to convert the 2 point try making it JV1 Eagles 23 Desoto 12. After the Morgan FG and another Desoto TD, Van Ausdall sealed the game with a 2 yard TD in the 4th to make the final score JV1 Eagles 33 Desoto 18. The defensive effort was lead by Jack Landsaw, Ethan Gallo, Carter Colaluca, Brayden Gathright and a host of other Eagles. Next up is Cedar Hill on Thursday 10/8 at 7pm at Eagle Stadium.
